Mural Project Details

This project was completed for Dogma training centres in Calgary, Alberta. Dogma is a dog and owner training facility with a focus on supportive training practices to achieve quick results. They initially planned for a simple selfie wall, but as the project evolved, they recognized the potential for a much greater impact. Through discussions, it became clear that expanding the mural to cover all four walls would better serve their needs by transforming the entire space into a vibrant, welcoming environment.

Timeline for project: Start date (April, 15, 2024 > June 02, 2024)

PROJECT CHALLENGES

Site challenges: There were a few site challenges during the mural project. The walls were approximately 25 feet high, requiring the installation of scaffolding to complete the work safely. Additionally, there were four different surfaces to paint on, each with a unique texture that required a different application to ensure the mural maintained its quality across the entire space. The client was also worried that they would have to shut the space off and affect operations.

Design challenges: They wanted the space to feel lively and reflective of the joyful experiences happening in their facility, while also staying true to their brand identity.

THE SOLUTION

Ultimately the project was a collaborative effort, we guided the team through every step of the creative process, starting with selecting colours that seamlessly integrated into their existing brand system. From there, we presented a variety of ideas for what could be illustrated on the walls, offering them the freedom to choose the elements that resonated most with their vision. Each wall was customized to enhance the space.

IMPACT & RESULTS

The project was completed on time and had minimal impact on the day to day operations.

The artwork did more than provide a fun backdrop; it enhanced the overall atmosphere, making the training facility feel more inviting and reflective of Dogma’s training philosophy & playful side.

I'm Maya, a visual artist from Mexico, now living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I create digital and analog artwork.
I love exploring with different mediums like: Mix media, watercolours, and acrylics are my favourite mediums to paint with. Experimenting with different styles keeps me curious and brings more ideas, from loose florals to vibrant and colourful animals and beautiful people portraits.
Art is my passion and helps me connect with my inner creative soul. My work explores self-actualization, authenticity and freedom through joyful expressions of colour and movement.
Working on some murals at the moment.
